Tika Pahari has been a prominent figure in Nepali cinema since 2034 B.S. He is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished character artists in the Nepali film industry, known for his authentic and nuanced performances that resonate with both fellow artists and audiences alike. Pahari's transition to cinema followed a challenging and rewarding career in the field of drama, which equipped him with the skills and depth needed to excel in his future film roles.
His notable performances in films like "Badalindo Aakash," "Jiwan Sangharsha," "Yug Dekhi Yug Samma," "Deuta," "Badaal," "Chatyang," and others have firmly established him as a force to be reckoned with in the realm of character acting.
What sets Tika Pahari apart is his commitment to staying rooted in his hometown of Butwal rather than the bustling entertainment hub of Kathmandu. This deliberate choice has allowed him to be a discerning actor, selecting roles that align with his persona and acting style.
Tika Pahari's journey into the world of acting began at the prestigious Pune Film Institute (PFI) in Pune, Maharashtra, India. During his time at PFI, he had the privilege of studying alongside and being contemporaries with notable figures in both Nepali and Indian cinema, including Naseruddin Shah, Shakti Kapoor, Raj Babbar, and others. This enriching experience shaped him into an actor more focused on delivering meaningful performances rather than merely occupying screen space.
Born on 19 Chaitra 2006 B.S. in Nawalparasi, Tika Pahari received his early education in Palpa and continued his schooling in various locations in India, including Gorakhpur. It was during his tenth-grade year that a schoolteacher introduced him to drama, sparking his passion for the art form. He subsequently participated in three school dramas. After completing his Matriculation in India, he moved to Kathmandu for his I.Sc. studies at Ananda Kuti Science College in Swyambhu.
At that time, both the Royal Nepal Academy and the Nepali drama scene were in their early stages of development. Cinema was also beginning to emerge as an industry, with the release of the movie "Maitighar" drawing large audiences. These factors led Tika Pahari to consider pursuing his acting dreams through the burgeoning field of filmmaking.
Motivated by this influence, he decided to enroll at PFI in 2030 B.S. as part of a group of thirteen Nepali students to study acting. After completing his two-year course, he returned to Nepal, where he initially struggled to find opportunities in the nascent film market. He eventually went back to India and performed in nearly forty dramas.
During this period, he returned to Nepal and signed up for the film "Jiwan Rekha" with Chalchita Sansthan. However, due to various delays and internal politics within the project, Pahari felt disillusioned and developed a strong aversion to such activities. This experience influenced his decision to be highly selective about the films he chose and led him to reside in Butwal with his family, except during shooting and post-production phases.
In 2038 B.S., Tika Pahari tied the knot with Manju Pahari. They have three sons: Gaurav, Saurabh, and Sulav. His son Gaurav Pahari also made his acting debut in the movie "Manjari" in 2013 A.D.
From the late forties of the Nepali decade, there was a surge in Nepali cinema, and during this time, Tika Pahari emerged as a prominent face of Nepali cinema. He continues to act and remains uncompromising in his dedication to the craft. He strongly advises newcomers to respect and honor the field of cinema, emphasizing that it should not be taken lightly.
