Surakshya Panta, a multifaceted Nepalese personality, is known for her diverse roles as an actress, creative director, and producer. Her entry into the film industry commenced with a supporting role in Alok Nembang's "Ajhai Pani" in 2015, but it was her performance in "Dhanapati" that propelled her to fame. Her contributions expanded to critically acclaimed films like "Gopi" and "Aama."
Before her foray into entertainment, Panta pursued a career in civil engineering, working in various firms. She holds a BE degree in civil engineering and an MSc degree in Integrated Water Resources Management. Her initial steps in the entertainment sphere involved being a media personality and VJ for national television networks such as Kantipur, Sagarmatha, and News 24.
Her international debut occurred in the Italian film "The Eight Mountains," directed by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch. This film notably earned "The Jury Award" at the Cannes Film Festival 2022, marking a significant achievement in Panta's international film career.
Beyond cinema, Panta has showcased her talent in theater, featuring in the play "Klesha" in Nepal, which gained recognition in the 2022 National School of Drama, International Theater Festival in India. Her contributions to Nepali cinema have garnered her numerous accolades, including the "Actor of the Year" award at the 2020 Block Buster Nepali Film Awards and the "Best Supporting Actor" award at the 2019 NEFTA Film Awards. Notably, she also received a national award for her role in the Nepali feature film "Aama."
Additionally, she made history as the first Nepali film actor to grace the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, further solidifying her position as a noteworthy figure in both national and international cinema.
