Shiva Sundar Shrestha, known professionally as Shiva Shrestha, is a renowned Nepali actor primarily recognized for his remarkable work in action films. He has earned the title of the "action king" in Nepali cinema due to his exceptional performances. The 1982 blockbuster movie "Jeevan Rekha" marked his debut and set the stage for his illustrious career. Throughout his career, he has starred in numerous highly successful films, including "Badalindo Akash" (1984), "Kanchi" (1984), "Bishwas" (1986), "Chino" (1989), "Manakamana" (1991), "Milan" (1993), "Dharma Sankat" (1998), "Thuldai" (1999), and more.
Shrestha's impact on the film industry during the 1980s, 1990s, and the early 2000s was so significant that he was often referred to as the "second pillar" of the industry. In addition to his work in Nepali cinema, he has also ventured into Pakistani films, appearing in over a dozen Urdu movies, seven of which achieved notable commercial success.
After a hiatus from Nepali cinema, Shiva Shrestha made a comeback in 2016 with the film "Bagmati," where he shared the screen with Rajesh Hamal. In 2018, he announced his involvement in the film "Euta Esto Prem Kahani," which he not only acted in but also wrote and produced. His son, Shakti, made his debut in this film, signifying the continuation of the family's legacy in the industry. Shiva Shrestha's contributions have left an indelible mark on the Nepali film landscape.
