Santosh Panta, a renowned figure in the Nepalese entertainment industry, was born in Kathmandu. His journey in the world of acting began at the young age of 7 when he served as a school representative, an achievement that earned him a gold medal presented by King Mahendra.
At the age of 15, Santosh auditioned for a role in the movie "Maan ko Baadh," but due to age restrictions, he couldn't participate in the film. However, in 2040 BS, he made his film debut in "Badalido Aakash," directed by Laxminath Sharma.
Subsequently, Santosh Panta ventured into directing and acting in the sitcom "Hijo Aja Ka Kura," which focused on addressing contemporary social issues. Originally named "Aja Bholi Ka Kura," it was later renamed "Hijo Aja Ka Kura" based on a suggestion from Neer Shah. This sitcom enjoyed tremendous popularity, running for 13 years with a total of 699 episodes. After a hiatus of approximately 10 years, the sitcom was revived on Kantipur Television and ran for an additional 117 episodes. "Hijo Aja Ka Kura" served as a platform for various Nepalese comedian artists, including Rama Thapaliya, Bijaya Giri, Dinesh D.C., Deepak Raj Giri, Deepa Shree Niraula, and Jitu Nepal. In 2020, the series was even adapted into a feature film.
In addition to his work in television, Santosh Panta was associated with the culture division of the Nepalese Army, where he directed the series "Matole Magdaina" and "Affaile Dinu Parcha." He was also actively involved in directing and performing in Gaijatra comedy shows, theatre productions, and various other television series.
Furthermore, Santosh Panta served as one of the judges on the reality show "Comedy Champion."
In his personal life, Santosh Panta is married to Pratibha Panta. They have a child who was assigned male at birth and named Pratik but later underwent gender reassignment surgery and adopted the name Caitlin.
