Nepalese artist Robin Tamang (1968 – 4 July 2023) was a multifaceted talent, recognized as a singer, musician, and actor, notably known as the founder of the rock band Robin and The New Revolution. His artistic career spanned across various Nepalese films, and he gained particular acclaim for his portrayal of Yama Nadu in the Amazon Prime series, The Last Hour.
Born in Singapore, Robin was the youngest among five siblings in a family deeply involved in the British Army. His upbringing was marked by his father's postings to different locations, leading Robin to reside in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Brunei during his formative years.
Inspired by music icons like Jimi Hendrix and Deep Purple during his schooling in Singapore, Robin's passion for music blossomed. In the mid-1980s, while pursuing studies at Humber College in Toronto, he founded his second band, Tamang, and performed extensively across various venues.
In 1996, Robin returned to Nepal, settling in Pokhara at his father's residence. He joined forces with a blues-rock band from Kathmandu called Looza, forming 'Robin n Looza.' Together, they recorded three albums and entertained audiences for several years until Looza disbanded in 2005.
Following the separation from Looza, Robin collaborated with another band, 'The New Revolution,' and co-founded Robin and The New Revolution. Their journey included producing records and captivating live performances until his unfortunate passing.
Tragically, Tamang was discovered deceased at his Budhanilkantha residence on 4 July 2023, at the age of 60.
