Richa Ghimire, a former Nepalese actress, has made her mark in more than 18 feature films throughout her career. Among her roles, she considers her portrayal in "Bish" (2009) as the most challenging. In this film, she took on the character of a drug addict, a role that required extensive research and preparation. Ghimire delved into understanding the psyche of individuals dealing with drug addiction, drawing inspiration from real-life experiences.
To prepare for the role in "Bish," Ghimire went the extra mile by watching the 1998 American biographical drama "Gia." She underwent physical transformations, including piercing her nose, using contact lenses, and employing hair and nail extensions, demonstrating her dedication to embodying the character authentically.
Married to director Shankar Ghimire since December 12, 2009, the couple spent their honeymoon in London, England. Beyond her acting career, Richa Ghimire is an advocate for gender equality, specifically advocating for equal pay for equal work in the film industry. She highlighted the disparity in payment between male and female actors, emphasizing that female actors not only receive less pay for similar amounts of work but also earn less even when they have larger roles than male actors.
Currently residing in the United States with her husband, Richa and Shankar Ghimire are parents to three children, leading a life beyond the limelight, focusing on their family life.
