Prabin Khatiwada, a versatile Nepali actor, has made a significant impact in the world of performing arts. Born in 1984 in Letang, Morang, in the eastern part of Nepal, Prabin discovered his passion for acting early on. His journey in the entertainment industry began when he joined Gurukul Theater in 2004. Since then, he has worked as an actor in approximately 30 theater plays and productions, including several Nepali movies. His acting career took off with his role in Abhi Subedi’s play “Fire in the Monastery”.
Apart from acting, Prabin has also directed several plays, including adaptations of Henrik Ibsen’s “Hedda Gabler,” “Sar jameen,” “uh kasko,” and “Mahadev ko baazi.” These productions have been staged in both national and international theaters. Prabin’s versatility extends beyond the stage, as he enjoys cooking his own recipes. He adds his unique flavor to Nepali cuisines when he’s in the kitchen, showcasing his culinary skills.
Prabin is known among his friends for his excellent sense of humor. After a busy day at work, he likes to unwind by cracking jokes and sharing laughter with those around him. Despite his theatrical presence, Prabin is not a fan of large parties. He feels most comfortable in the theater crowd and among his familiar circle of friends.
The love for poetry runs in Prabin’s family, and he has inherited this passion. Growing up listening to his father’s poems, he developed an affinity for writing his own verses. Prabin enjoys reading works by poets such as Bhupi Sherchan, Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Khalil Gibran, W.B. Yeats, and his elder brother1. Unlike many, Prabin prefers face-to-face communication over social media, valuing the effectiveness of verbal interaction.
