Niruta Singh is a renowned Indian actress recognized for her contributions to Nepali cinema. She embarked on her acting journey with the 1993 film "Rahar," directed by Tulsi Ghimire. Her remarkable performance in the 2001 movie "Darpan Chhaya" earned widespread acclaim, making it the highest-grossing film in Nepali cinema history.
Born in Darjeeling, India, Niruta Singh later moved to Kathmandu to pursue her acting career. Her introduction to the film industry came through director Tulsi Ghimire, who cast her in "Dakshina" (1993). She became an integral part of the Ghimire camp, following in the footsteps of legendary actress Tripti Nadakar. Her filmography includes hits like "Rahar."
Niruta Singh's career reached its pinnacle with "Darpan Chaya" in 2001, also directed by Tulsi Ghimire. Her exceptional performance contributed to the film's enormous success, with a record-breaking gross of NRs 700 million, setting a new benchmark in the Nepali film industry.
In addition to her acting talent, Niruta Singh is also a singer. She lent her voice to the title track of director Deepak Raymajhi's NTV family drama series "Vansha" and released a music album titled "Deepshikha."
With changes in the film industry landscape, Niruta Singh took a prolonged hiatus from acting and relocated to Mumbai due to concerns about the capabilities of emerging filmmakers. However, she made a comeback in 2019 with the film "Dal Bhaat Tarkari," produced by Maha Jodi.
In April 2023, Niruta Singh was honored with one of Nepal's highest civilian awards, the Prabal Jana Sewa Shree, by the President of Nepal.
On August 31, 2023, Niruta Singh tied the knot with Sanjeev Gulati in India.
