Namrata Shrestha, a renowned Nepalese actress and model, entered the limelight with her debut in Alok Nembang's "Sano Sansar" in 2008. Despite her lack of experience, she portrayed the character of Ritu in the romantic comedy alongside Karma.
Following her debut, she appeared as Sikha in the 2009 romantic comedy "Mero Euta Saathi Chha." Branching into theater, Shrestha debuted in the play "Jalpari" in 2010, showcasing her versatility.
Her career continued to soar with significant roles in various notable films, including "Chhadke," directed by Nigam Shrestha, where she starred alongside Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, and Robin Tamang. In "Maun," she portrayed a mute woman, displaying her ability to take on diverse and challenging roles.
The year 2015 marked her role in the film "Soul Sister," wherein she played dual characters and also ventured into singing with the song 'Bistarai Bistarai.' In 2016, she starred in "Classic" alongside Aryan Sigdel, earning accolades such as the Dcine Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) and the National Film Award for Best Actress.
Her performance in "Prasad" further solidified her reputation, receiving widespread critical acclaim and securing her another Dcine Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for her portrayal of Narayani in the film.
However, her 2019 venture "Xira," where she performed her stunts and shaved her hair for the role, received mixed reviews. The Kathmandu Post's review summarized the film as failing to highlight the admirable aspects of the character Xira.
