Karishma Manandhar, whose birthdate is recorded as June 9, 1974 (though some sources mention 1975), is a prominent Nepalese actress and politician. She is widely regarded as one of the most beloved and enduring actresses in the history of Nepali cinema, known particularly for her roles in romantic films. Karishma's acting career began when she was just 17 years old with her debut in the 1988 Nepali movie 'Santaan.'
Over the span of more than three decades, she established herself as a successful and leading actress, becoming a superstar of Nepali cinema and earning a special place in the hearts of the audience. Karishma has a massive fan following, and her acting skills and beauty continue to be appreciated by both past and present generations.
Throughout her career, she starred in over seventy films, with some of her notable successes including 'Santan,' 'Kasturi,' 'Allare,' 'Bhauju,' 'Manakamana,' 'Truk Driver,' 'Sapana,' 'Dhukdhuki,' 'Basanti,' 'Dhukdhuki,' 'Jindagani,' 'Papi Manchhe,' and many more. Her on-screen pairing with the legendary actor Rajesh Hamal was highly cherished by the audience, and they were considered the Golden Couple of the Nepali film industry. Many of their movies together achieved tremendous commercial success.
After her prolific acting career, Karishma temporarily left the movie industry and lived in the United States for several years. She later returned to Nepal and established a film studio in Godavari. In addition to her acting roles, she appeared in television commercials and billboards for the endorsement of Dabur Chyawanprash. Karishma ventured into movie production with projects like 'Dhukdhuki' and 'Babusaheb,' with the latter being her significant success in this field.
Karishma is married to Binod Manandhar, with whom she has a daughter. She transitioned into politics and joined the Naya Shakti Nepal political party. She later became affiliated with the CPN (UML) party, and it is believed that her political involvement was influenced by political leader KP Sharma Oli.
