Jayanendra Chand Thakuri, a prominent Nepalese actor, was known for his significant contributions to the Nepali cinema. Born in 1942, he appeared in more than 100 films during his acting career. Some of the notable films he starred in include "Kanchhi," "Biswas," "Maya Priti," "Feri Bhetaula," "Angarakshyak," and "Parkhi Base." Thakuri made his Bollywood debut with "Panchavati" in 1986 and also appeared in the Pakistani film "Phani."
His career began in 1982 when he debuted as an actor in the Nepali film "Jeevan Rekha." Throughout his career, he acted in numerous films and television serials, establishing himself as a respected figure in the Nepali film industry.
In 2012, Thakuri faced a setback when he suffered an accident on the sets of "Bhagi Bhagi Najau," which left him paralyzed in his left leg. Despite his health challenges, he continued to receive medical treatment.
In recognition of his contributions to Nepali cinema, Thakuri was awarded the title of "Abhiyan Actor of the Decade" in 1995. His work is remembered as a significant contribution to the growth of Nepali cinema. He passed away on May 31, 2020, after being bedridden for six months following years of paralysis.
