Dinesh Raut stands as a versatile figure in the Nepali film industry, renowned for his diverse talents as a writer, director, producer, and songwriter. His journey in the world of entertainment began at a young age of 14 as a theater artist, progressing later into the realm of filmmaking.
Raut's directorial debut with "I Am Sorry" in 2012 marked the onset of his directorial career, showcasing his ability to helm movies. However, his significant breakthrough arrived with "November Rain," featuring Aaryan Sigdel and Namrata Shrestha. This movie not only garnered immense success at the box office but also earned Raut accolades such as the Box Office Movies Award for Best Film Director in 2015 and the CG DCine Award for Best Film Director.
"Classic," another directorial venture by Raut in 2016, further solidified his standing as a successful filmmaker, earning him the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) Film Director Award and the Jury Award at the International Nepalese Artist Society (INAS) Awards in 2016.
His subsequent movie, "Parva" in 2017, continued Raut's streak of successes, especially in the thriller genre, starring Koshish Chettri and Namrata Shrestha.
Raut's recent endeavors have been equally lauded, with his movie "Prakash" receiving acclaim and fetching him prestigious awards, including the Jury Award at the Nepal Rural Film Festival (NERUFF) in 2023, the Best Director Feature Film at the Spiny Babaaler International Film Festival (SBIFF) in 2023, and the Best Director Award at the Pim Nepal Film Festival in 2022.
Apart from his directorial accomplishments, Raut has showcased his lyrical talent by composing songs for his movies like "November Rain," "Parva," and "Classic." He has also contributed lyrics to several other films, including "Bir Bikram" and "Happy Days," showcasing his versatile skill set within the industry.
