Deeya Maskey, also known as Diya Maskey, is a versatile Nepalese actress, accomplished dancer, and theatre director, renowned for her contributions to art films and non-commercial cinema. Her debut in the Nepalese film industry was in "Kagbeni," directed by the influential filmmaker Bhusan Dahal, a movie credited with elevating the Nepali movie landscape.
Recognized for her roles in art films like "Saanghuro," "Soongava," "Dokh," and "Prakash," Maskey received the National Award by NIFF as the "Best Actress of 2022" for her exceptional performance in the movie "Prakash." Known for her preference for non-commercial cinema, she's actively involved in theatrical plays and dramas, showcasing her talent across diverse platforms.
Maskey made her directorial debut in theater with the play "Katha Kasturi" in 2022, further expanding her creative contributions. In 2014, she married Anup Baral, a popular Nepalese actor, theatre artist, and director.
