There was a time when C.P. Lohani (Chidambar Prasad Lohani) held an esteemed place in every Nepali household. It was the year 2020 BS, and people simply relished listening to his songs, savoring the mellifluous tones of his voice. He was a true master of his craft.

From a young age, he showcased his exceptional talent in singing classical numbers, leaving the older generation awe-struck with his prowess. At just 15 years old, he made his debut on Radio Nepal during Baal Karyakam, choosing to perform a classical piece.

C.P. Lohani's father, Durganidhi Lohani, was a fervent music enthusiast, and his mother, Uttar Kumari, couldn't contain her joy when she heard her child sing. Even in his formative years, he had the opportunity to learn classical music under the guidance of Chetnath Sharma. This mentorship refined the innate talent he possessed.

He pursued his formal education at various institutions, including Padmodaya High School (Kathmandu), Adarsha Vidhyalaya (Biratnagar), and Bijaya Memorial High School (Kathmandu). In each of these schools, his singing talents earned him a reputation as a popular figure. His popularity continued to soar when he attended Tri Chandra College.

In 2020 BS, he was cast in a leading role in the movie "Maitighar," opposite the renowned actress Mala Sinha. This marked a turning point in his life, and after the film's release, he even sang a duet with Mala Sinha.

The romantic spark between CP Lohani and Mala Sinha ignited during the filming of "Maitighar," which took them to various locations for shoots. It was on one of these trips that they developed mutual feelings for each other. In 2021 BS, he received a heartfelt letter from Mala Sinha, who was residing and working in Mumbai at the time. This letter expressed her affection for him, and their correspondence blossomed from there. On Falgun 1, 2025 BS, they decided to tie the knot, a surprising announcement that caught many in Nepal off guard. Their union brought forth their first daughter, Pratibha, who ventured into Bollywood with mixed reviews. In contrast, CP Lohani achieved superstar status with just one film. He continued to make music, although he had only a few recorded songs to his name, they were enough to leave a lasting legacy.

Born in Ashoj, 1995 BS, in Kathmandu, he was named Chidambar Prasad Lohani. After completing his B.Com in Kathmandu, he pursued an M.Com in Delhi, although his stay there was brief. Following his participation in the Loksewa examination, he served as a section officer at Bhansa. Later, he held the position of general manager at Raghupati Jute Mills and Biratnagar Jute Mills.

CP Lohani was not just a talented singer but also a vibrant individual involved in various endeavors. He excelled as a table tennis player, representing Nepal at competitions in Mumbai and China. His skill earned him recognition and awards from Late King Tribhuvan, Late King Mahendra, and Late King Birendra. In 2022 BS, he even surprised many by mimicking a female voice excellently during a singing competition, where he secured the first position for Modern Song organized by Radio Nepal.

Late King Mahendra was among his ardent fans, frequently inviting him to the palace for performances. In his later years, CP Lohani reduced his singing activities but occasionally graced events and programs with his captivating performances. Most of his time was spent in Mumbai with his family, leading a contented life.
