B.S. Thapa, also known as Bhimsen Thapa, was a significant figure in both the Nepali and Bollywood film industries. He is best known for directing "Maitighar" (1966), the first Nepali film produced by the private sector, which featured Bollywood stars like Mala Sinha and Sunil Dutt in cameo roles. This film is regarded as a landmark in Nepali cinema and remains a classic.
Thapa's career went beyond Nepal, as he directed several Bollywood films, including "Himalay Se Ooncha" (1975) and "Kanchhi" (1984). His ability to connect Nepali and Indian cinema highlighted his versatility and vision. He also made contributions as a writer, working on projects like "Yeh Rastey Hain Pyar Ke" (1963).
