Asha Magarati is a talented Nepali American screenwriter, producer, and actor who has made a significant impact in the global film industry. Born in Dharan, Nepal, she is the co-founder of Aadi Films and Gograha Film Workshop, which aim to nurture original voices in Nepali cinema. Asha has worked on several award-winning films, including the upcoming drama-thriller "The Sky Is Mine," which has garnered international recognition and support from the New York State Council of Arts and Sørfond Norway. She also played the lead role and co-wrote and produced the Golden Bear nominee "Four Nights."
Asha has starred in notable films such as "White Sun," which received the Interfilm award at the Venice Film Festival, "Highway," which debuted at the Berlinale, and "Kagbeni," which was screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival. She is a graduate of Berlinale Talents and the School of Playback Theater and was recognized as one of the 25 movers and shakers who helped shape Nepal over the past 25 years by the Kathmandu Post.
